Shakespeare at the Friedrich-Fischer-Schule
On the 23th of November our class did an excursion to Nürnberg. We went to the cinema and watched the Shakespeare-film „Macbeth“ with Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard. The dialogues were in Shakespearian English, this made the movie rather difficult to understand. Even the subtitles didn't help us much because they also were in the original language. This made it really hard to follow the plot. But on the other hand the actors chosen for this movie were well suited for their roles. Their performance was excellent. The production of the movie was breathtaking due to special effects and stellar editing. Furthermore, we were touched by Scotland's beautiful landscape.
It is also worth mentioning the impressive impact of brutality the movie started with. Regardless of the differences between the movie and the book on which it was originally based, the movie was an enjoyable experience. All in all, the excursion was interesting and definitely worth doing again, despite the slight „language barrier“.
